Urgent! Friends of Music Volunteer Needed

WSHS Music Boosters are currently seeking a volunteer to be our liaison with the Friends of Music organization. The Friends of Music is an organization that advocates for music programs in the SK Schools. The group meets one evening every other month. If you are interested, please let Kami know (mkhett@aol.com) and contact Alan Bushong at bushong5@comcast.net, and let him know you are from WSHS. If you would like to know more about the group, please direct questions to Alan. Below is the calendar for the remainder of this school year:

Monday, March 2^nd: Friends of Music will be discussing upcoming budget cuts and the need to get fairer system than the school-wide AYP of No Child Left Behind.

Monday April 6^th: We will have a school board candidate forum at a place to be announced.

Monday May 4^th: We meet at Sprague. We've now set the date. Expect the school budget to be an issue.

A Note from Alan Bushong: With the bad economy, we all need to step up or electives will suffer. The meetings are easy. I hope several West parents will find this important enough to be a part. Thanks for helping. --Alan

SCRIP Breaking News!

Now there is even more reason to order SCRIP! It was decided at the last Band Booster Meeting that for each person who orders SCRIP, 40% of the profit from their order will go directly into their student's account. The other 60% will go into the general band fund unless there is a special fundraising project to which we will direct the funds, such as the Spring Trip. Here's how it works:

• Take home an order form from the band room or print one from the attachment in the news letter.
• Order SCRIP from places you normally shop.
• Include your check for DOLLAR for DOLLAR exchange.
• Make sure your name is listed on the form with the student's name so I know who's account to credit for the profit.
• Turn in the form each week and watch your student's band account grow!

Ordering SCRIP is a great way to build up funds in your band account for special needs such as Marching Band tuition, trips or special activities. Have your friends, neighbors or coworkers order SCRIP from you and your profit expands! A SCRIP order form is attached to this email.
